Classically rooted. Fearlessly present.
Trained at LAMDA in London and the City College of New York, Emily moves between classical Shakespeare — Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Elm Shakespeare's Pericles, Valley Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew — and immersive devised work with Fever's Jury Experience, Grymm Studios, and Theatre for the New City.
As the founder of Soft Spoken Thunder, she bridges classical training with experimental ensemble work and coaches actors seeking the same emotional precision in their own craft.

Emily is an intentional and intuitive performer. She makes subtle and deliberate choices that convey the emotional transitions a character experiences within a piece. In doing this, she skillfully captures the imagination of the audience and brings them deeper into the world of the play. When Emily is on stage you don't just watch the play. Emily's choices make you feel the play too.
I have directed Emily twice now and each time she gave a strong performance. The irony is that one was powerfully dramatic and the other broadly comic. She made each role distinctive and strong. She also managed to find nuance in farcical crying. That's talent.
Emily is a highly intelligent and imaginative actress; she makes excellent use of physicality; she is hardworking and dedicated; her performances are energetic, interesting and compelling.
I've had the pleasure of working with Emily on multiple productions now, and every time, she shows up and delivers. Her performances are consistently strong — she brings real commitment and presence to everything she does. But what really sets her apart is how generous she is as a scene partner. She's genuinely in it with you, listening and responding in a way that makes everyone around her better. Any production would be lucky to have her.
Meeting Emily for the first time one felt at ease. Her presence revealed warmth and intelligence and extremely generous both on and off stage. I would highly recommend Emily as a performer.
Roberson commands the stage as Beatrice, a force to be reckoned with.
Emily is a wonderful actress. She is always on time, very professional and brings good energy with her wherever she goes. I had the pleasure of doing the play Antigone with her and I find her to be a great talent. Good natured, kind, and just a joy to work with. She's just the best.
I've had the pleasure of working with Emily as an actor and a vocalist. She is a delightful and highly creative performer who brings a sense of truth and nuance to her work.

"I could say so many wonderful things about Emily, but for lack of space and words, I must stress the importance of how she interacts with others. She is patient, kind, compassionate, loving, and understanding, yet still upholds a professional boundary that many others cannot balance as delicately. I cannot recommend Emily and Soft Spoken Thunder enough!"
